Rattly had a street sign named after him (mispelled Rattley) in Mario Odyssey. It'due south not too odd when there'south a bunch of DKC references in the level it appears in, but information technology is odd that he got a reference and more popular Animal Buddies similar Enguarde and Squitter didn't.

Then Rattly appeared equally a Spirit in the last Super Nail Bros. direct, and this time his proper name is spelled correctly. On pinnacle of that, Snakey Chantey, appropriately named after the Rattly-centric stage in DKC2, is going to be a new remix in Smash Ultimate.

Is Rattly one of the more popupar Animal Buddies at Nintendo?

amanezco

I would love Rattly to return, I enjoyed so much to play any level with him. A whole animal buddies oriented DKC game would be amazing! I am so hungry for news nearly future DKC games. I am happy that TF came to Switch, only it has been so long since it came out on Wii U. I am ready to play new levels as Rattly, waiting for the announcement. I judge I should keep my hopes downwardly..or not? The waiting not knowing anything is a torture. I would be happy with just a logo of the game and words "in development". I promise Nintendo surprises us.

KremlingKuthroat19

Yeah being a DK fan is one of the tougher fandoms in Nintendo. Every major Nintendo franchise has a new release on the Switch or has an appear game in development except DK (I'm counting Pikmin 4 as Miyamoto said it's about washed years ago and Star Fox Grand Prix or whatever have plenty of people bankroll it admitting it's however a rumor). It'south pretty frustrating actually. It's gotten to the point that I'thousand gonna he more relieved than hyped by the next DK game lol.

Rattle def seems similar he's existence primed for future games. I really think the next DK game is already complete but they have to wait for the holiday season to pass to give TF legs. I but find it hard to believe that Nintendo sabbatum on their thumbs for the last five years on the DK IP. TF appears to be a rollout for a final DKCR entry with the Kremlings and fauna buddies before making a 3D game.

Rattly is a cool beast buddy too. I think the New Donk City signs are a big hint at the next DK game and characters such as Candy, Tiny and Thou. Rool were as well references and then I expect them to come dorsum in some capacity. For me the ideal animal buddies for futurity DK games include: Rambi, Enguarde, Squawks, Rattly and Squitter.

Sharkania

Perchance, but it will take some time until he or any other side character will return in a DK game. I mean it took Dixie almost twenty years until she was a part of a main line DK game again. Imagine how long information technology would take them to use ane of the side animal buddies again.

Iggy

When it comes to the GAMEPLAY of recent entries, I practice non run into where Rattly would fit in. Unless they replace the situational Cranky Kong with him... heck he was only in DKC2. The question is "Does he need to come back?"

KremlingKuthroat19

Having only Rambi is the most aggregious flaw of DKCTF. It'due south unforgivable for me personally to have a water world and no Enguarde. Fifty-fifty Retro regretted this. If Rattly does or doesn't render for the next game I can nigh guarantee that the side by side game will at to the lowest degree have another animal buddy. Almost likely Enguarde.

Planet Cool

What if at that place was an animal buddy game? No Kongs, merely a bunch of animal buddies on their own risk (maybe one to rescue the Kongs). The Yoshi'due south Story of Donkey Kong, only skillful. I'd play that.

When it comes to the GAMEPLAY of recent entries, I do not see where Rattly would fit in. Unless they supercede the situational Cranky Kong with him... heck he was only in DKC2. The question is "Does he need to come back?"

Have Rattly jump higher than Cranky and never stop his billowy like in DKC2 with the improver of the super jump. Top it off with level design specifically suited for Rattly's gameplay and he'd make for a great addition to a new DKC game.

Planet Absurd

Honestly, Rattly could accept Squawks'south place every bit the resident item/bonus detector and I'd be happy plenty. He's a rattlesnake, and so he could shake his rattle faster and louder the closer you are to a secret. Meanwhile, Squawks himself could to back to carrying the Kongs like in DKC2 and 3, since at that place's no Kong that can fly.

Stilt Village

Oh wow, I honey this. It's a really beautiful way to directly translate the thing the animate being is known for into gameplay, you can fifty-fifty take him exist wrapped around the same piddling branch at the lesser of the screen only chilling until he perks upwardly when he notices something. I experience like the rattle would be much clearer, visually and audibly, than Squawks was too. Overall just a wonderful improvement on the concept in part and personality, I'grand going to exist disappointed when this never comes to pass now.

KremlingKuthroat19

I have a potent feeling that the next DKC is going to exist a dear letter to the original trilogy and will kinda retcon some Retro stuff. For instance DK Island may render to DK's confront and expect like the Blast version. Kremlings will return as well as zingers and perchance even gnawtys. I do think Professor Chops volition remain. And the comedy from the original trilogy with the eyes popping out like in K. Rool's Blast trailer will be in full force.

Ever since I learned from Ubisoft that at that place's a DK IP squad that had to green light the content in Donkey Kong Risk, that permit me know that Nintendo cares mode more virtually how the IP is handled at present than in years prior. This IP team also included references to all of the past animate being buddies so I think that the next DK game will have a big emphasis on animal buddies. Also besides the tiki themed enemies and the collectible puzzle pieces, this DLC expansion has no other Retro Studios references that I'thou aware of.

Yusuf

Rattly was always 1 of my favorite Animal Buddies, and the master reason for that has nothing to do with anything in-game. For no specific reason, it was my personal headcanon as a kid that Rattly was Diddy's favorite Animal Buddy, and that'due south why I love Rattly so much. That, and every one of his levels, with the exception of Gusty Glade, are some of my favorite in DKC2. I actually love Gusty Glade, but I adopt playing it without Rattly so I can play with Dixie'due south helicopter glide.

Anyway, regarding the really topic, I don't think Rattly is making a comeback, and if he does return, I don't remember Nintendo's been hinting at anything with New Donk Metropolis or the Smash references. With the New Donk City signs, fucking everything is an obscure DKC reference, and there'southward only then many DKC references you tin can make before you make your fashion to Rattly. With Blast, I think the song they really like is Gankplank Galleon, which Snakey Chantey is obviously a remix of, and the fact that the Blast remix of Snakey Chantey also adds the

snake, rattle

stone 'n' whorl portion of the original Gankplank Galleon to the song shows that they just wanted a different flavor of Gankplank Galleon since that song is already in the game in numerous forms. Plus, if it were alluding to Nintendo's future plans for the character, that'd be something that Nintendo themselves would have to coordinate and suggest to the Nail squad, and I don't think they practise that very ofttimes with music. Nosotros know for a fact that Sakurai'southward team is frequently in the dark with things other Nintendo teams are developing, so I highly doubtfulness they'd be enlightened that of a single Animal Buddy in an upcoming Donkey Kong game that, if it really exists, would have to be relatively early in development since information technology hasn't been announced yet.

Unfortunately, I don't think Rattly volition always playable/rideable in a game where Cranky is playable. Given Nintendo'south delivery to multiplayer in their platformers, I recall Cranky's going to be playable in every future 2nd game.

I see where you're coming from past tempering your expectations simply call up this is Nintendo hither. The same company that announced Mario + Rabbids at E3 and released it two months later. They also appear Super Mario Political party four months before it launched. Nintendo likes to announce games three-9 months before they launch. They've broken this rule a bit for this gen with Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, Fire Emblem and Yoshi (although the last ii were bc of delays). This isn't Sony who announces games five years before they come up out.

What I'm saying is that with Nintendo they but prove games off when they're prepare. Pikmin four has been complete for God knows how long, but we however haven't seen information technology for whatsoever reason. I just can't imagine that Nintendo has just started evolution of their fifth-highest selling IP simply at present and hasn't started anything with it since 2014. It wouldn't make whatever sense. The merely fashion I tin run across the next DK game non existence ready is due to the rumors of Retro Studios either canceling their last game or it beingness in evolution hell.

In my opinion if the Wii U wasn't a failure then we would've gotten DKCR3 on the Wii U effectually vacation 2017 just Nintendo botched that panel so bad that all new entries to existing franchises got moved to the Switch. Next year will marker v years since we've gottten a new DK game and we've never gone over five years w/out a new game since he time between the arcade games and the Country serial. I only tin can't see u.s. waiting 7 years or so for a new game. At that place's no precedence for that long of a drought. Lastly, every modern DKC game has followed a port of the previous mainline game to a new console and released a year after said port (Jungle Beat 2009=DKCR 2010; DKCR 2013=DKCTF 2014; DKCTF 2018=DKCR3 2019?) *fingers crossed*

Nintendo works in cycles. It's honestly kind of genius, because they know their fans so well. Every few years, they radically reinvent one of their backdrop; so, when the old style is erstwhile enough to be nostalgic, they bring it dorsum in full force. Lather, rinse, and repeat when the reinvention and then becomes nostalgic. There are tons of examples of this across several unlike IPs.

Take Mario, for example. In 1996, they retired archetype Mario and introduced crappy sandbox Mario. Then ten years later, oops, here'southward New Super Mario Bros.! Hither's Super Mario Milky way! Classic Mario is back, infant. Then, in some other decade, later a long streak of classic-style games that left crappy sandbox fans longing for the days of 64 and Sunshine, bam, here's Cappy, time to get crappy! (The same applies to Zelda, but in contrary.)

In the case of Donkey Kong, Returns and Tropical Freeze were obviously meant to be the large SNES-way revival, but Nintendo didn't know that King Yard. Rool was secretly one of their most pop characters, and so the games didn't feel that fashion to a lot of people. Now that they've been made keenly aware, I'd be surprised if the next game isn't full to the gills with Rare-era Land ephemera.

That's a pretty good observation about Nintendo cycles. I recollect we're on a DKC end bicycle with the terminal DKCR game coming out in 2019 before a 3D game subsequently this gen. Bayan made a swell observation that all of the newcomers for Boom have an announced game coming out except DK which adds evidence to my belief that DKCR3 with the Kremlings is on its way. I really think Tanabe was serious when he said that we'll exist getting 3D and second games at some point, but the Wii U delayed those plans.

It's actually insane how pop K. Rool is. I've ever loved him merely didn't realize how passionate his fanbase was until I saw the Kremling Kampaigners and all the love he got in one case he was revealed in Smash. He's miles alee in terms of hyped newcomers than anyone else. Not even big names like Isabelle and Inkling have the same level of hype.

I recall it's partially bc he represents Rare more than whatsoever other grapheme. Yeah I know you could argue Banjo but Grand. Rool is the personification of Nintendo'due south relectance to promote any Rare cosmos. He'southward a character 100% endemic past Nintendo that'south been shunned for the terminal 20 years basically. I know he was in spinoffs but Nintendo didn't really care too much about spin-off rosters similar they do with their mainline games so it does actually feel like his last appearance wac in DK64 to most people.

Dorsum to this topic I think the ballot is the best thing to always happen to this fandom. I remember Nintendo finally learned that Rare created characters are insanely popular, non only in the United states of america only also in Nippon. It'southward most likely that K. Rool won the ballot and Krystal and Dixie did extremely well too. I don't know if you lot guys have checked the Nail datamine spirits and songs then I'thou not gonna spoil information technology for yous but the fan service we've gotten on those two aspects of Smash is higher up and beyond. I really recall the next DK game is gonna be a fan service overload with Rare aspects of DKC in full force.

Mario breaks down a lot more than complex than that.

iii is the but direct expansion on the original. Stylistically classic Mario ends with 64, simply in game design merely Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3 actually share the aforementioned mold. "Sandbox Mario" actually begins with World, then evolves into Yoshi'south Isle and then 64. Mario stops evolving in whatsoever particular direction, marking the end of archetype Mario, and from this existing status quo he at times strikes out in new directions that are inevitably discarded and returns to a homogenized prophylactic at others. Sunshine, Galaxy, and Odyssey are singled-out "alternate" takes on Mario with little influence on each other or surrounding games. They do not stand for steps in the evolution of Mario in a new direction like Earth or Yoshi's Island did, because Mario is non "going anywhere" in any kind of meaningful way. The New Super Mario games and 3D Land/World are total on nostalgic and present a sort of arcadian mush of what archetype Mario was, but in a superficial way. They come out playing basically like a hybrid of three, World, and 64 that greatly tones down all of those games. It was New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Galaxy 2 that would reinforce the direction things were going to take from now on, merely in retrospect Sunshine and New Super Mario Bros. are where it began and conspicuously the beginning examples of "alternate Mario" and "nostalgic Mario".

Besides Super Mario 64 is ameliorate than your favorite 2D Mario (unless your favorite 2D Mario is iii, then I guess you win).

Man-Frog

...wha?

Stilt Village

Galaxy is... going there. It'south definitely where they start moving backwards to an extent, only of course at that place's still trappings similar the Power Stars and the life meter that are sort of superficially left over from the previous 3D games, and in particular information technology has this very disconnected style of level design that nearly feels like they took a grade from 64 or Sunshine, chopped it upward, and fabricated a path betwixt the pieces. It'due south loose and open up and keeps jumping incoherently from idea to thought. Like how in Gusty Garden Galaxy all three stars begin with a variation of the wind section, then go something completely different. The third doesn't even have anything to do with the milky way's theming. Galaxy 2 is where they really start edifice each level around developing a specific concept again, reintroducing more platforming, and making more focused less open levels, which is the major reason why I prefer information technology. Galaxy ii ends up in this weird place between the appetite and spectacle of Galaxy and the more focused and polished only extremely generic 3D State, which is literally conceptually "second Mario but in 3D" with no extras and perchance the most Mario-ass Mario game ever Mariod.

As great as Retro'due south game are from a gameplay perspective they're a 10/10 only the Rare charm isn't completely at that place. It's partially there but no Kremlings and ane Brute buddy are the chief reason if tin can't meridian the SNES games. If the next game added Kremlings and more creature buddies, it'd probably be my favorite in the series.

I'd argue that the Snowmads were an amazingly designed grouping of baddies which rival Rare's characters (well, maybe non Fredrik in my stance, merely even and then his character however had a really great concept going for a new DK villain) and Tawks was a really nifty new addition, simply other than those few exceptions, I meet what you hateful. While I'm thankful for Retro taking the series off the rails like in the Gamecube days, it felt similar they were a little as well hesitant to brand any major additions to the DK's cast, aside from maybe Professor Chops and (hopefully) Tawks.

If Retro is making the next DK game, while I'g even so hoping for the return of the Kremlings, Animal Buddies, and other underutilized characters, I hope they really try to innovate something new which will cement their identify in the series. I think the best way might be to let Retro make an entirely new Kong, whether they be playable or an NPC.

KremlingKuthroat19

I remember the Smowmads are absurd and I even like the Tiki Tsk Tribe. Hot take I know lol. Although I think the Kremlings should never leave as the principal antagonists, it would be cool if both the Snowmads and the Tiki Tak Tribe were still in DK games but as an coincident part. For instance, await at SMB2. Shy Guys originated in that game and the game has none of the original enemies of SMB1. Over time Shy Guy became another regular Mario enemy.

The aforementioned can happen with the Tiki Tak Tribe and the Snowmads. The Snowmads can be ancillary enemies that testify upward in the ice stages and the Tiki Tak Tribe tin can show upwards in the jungle stages for all futurity DK games. That'd be pretty cool. Equally long as nosotros get the Kremlings with K. Rool, Klump, Krusha, Kritters and Klaptraps as well as Zingers and Neckys then I'd be fine with the Snowmads and Tiki Tak Tribe. Professor Chops is a fun trivial character for checkpoints that adds to the amuse of the game so I want him to stay and Tawks should remain as Funky'due south pet.

The only thing I'd like to be retconned is Jungle Beat out's characters. I actually like Jungle Beat but information technology'south character designs seem incompatible with the classic Rare graphic symbol designs in terms of their art style.

You lot tin't compare the manner Nintendo runs Mario or Zelda, their flagship franchises, to the way they run Ass Kong. Mario has and always will have multiple games in development at any given time, while Donkey Kong hasn't even had a defended studio since Rare. Likewise, fifty-fifty if your hypothesis and its awarding to DK were truthful, Returns and Tropical Freeze are SNES revivals in name but; as well lacking the characters of the originals, the only matter the Retro games accept in common with the Rare games in terms of gameplay is that they're sidescrolling platformers. That's not an oversight, that's a conscious development decision and that's fine and I dear the Retro games, but they're not to DKC what NSMB or 3D Land are to the NES Mario games.

I don't buy that Nintendo works in cycles, at least non intentionally, but I specially don't recollect theirs any deliberate cycle with how they run DK. If they e'er release a deliberate Donkey Kong nostalgiafest, it'll either be because of the demand they translate from the fans' human relationship with Smash Bros, or because they give the series to a superfan developers similar PAON (like that'll happen again), Camelot, or fifty-fifty Ubisoft. The latter scenario is more likely considering Boom has become such a cocky-contained brute that Nintendo may not treat what fans want from a franchise's representation in Blast as testimonial to what fans want from the aforementioned franchise's own games. And bluntly, if Nintendo gives the keys to Camelot or Ubisoft for the next game, it won't be considering they want those developers to make a game with the fanservice we can predict that they'll add together, but it'll just be considering they desire to put another Ass Kong game out at that place and they know those developers would be willing and proactive to do it.

illnevertell.gif ...oh, uh, yep, of grade. Back to reality now.

Man-Frog

If I were Nintendo, I would've assumed nobody likes Donkey Kong too. Know why?

Because from 2002 to 2010, all anybody always did was take steaming shits all over both Donkey Kong and Rareware. Is it any wonder they didn't empathize Thousand. Rool's sudden popularity?

koopaul

Hopefully Nintendo now knows that people bitching on the internet are usually a song minority and that the sales of a game like Returns prove how much people similar a series.

Oh they know. Allow's Become Pikachu was the highest selling game on Black Friday. Tropical Freeze sold perfectly fine at $lx too. As it comes to the DK series I retrieve Nintendo learned that the sales of DK games can abound exponentially with the inclusion of K.Rool. His popularity is insane, especially in Japan - Nintendo'due south about catered market.

Interestingly though, Shy Guys have never appeared in a chief series Mario game again. What'south upwardly widdat, Miyamoto?

According to Miyamoto himself, Yoshi's Isle is a main series game.

Even if you don't count Yoshi, there are Wing Guys in 64. It's still weird, only it'south not some total separation.

KremlingKuthroat19

It'd exist cool if the Tikis and Snowmads abandoned Tiki Tong and Lord Fredrik to join One thousand. Rool under the Kremling banner. I'd like to see the Snowmads and Tikis in pirate gear. It'd likewise make K. Rool more threatening knowing that he has united all DK's enemies in an endeavor to take downwards the Kongs. Lord Fredrik and Tiki Tong could be generals in his army and bosses too. Would be a cool mode to unite all of the enemies under 1 imprint.

Nintendo works in cycles. It'southward honestly kind of genius, considering they know their fans so well. Every few years, they radically reinvent one of their properties; so, when the old way is old enough to be nostalgic, they bring it back in total force. Soap, rinse, and repeat when the reinvention and so becomes nostalgic. At that place are tons of examples of this across several different IPs.

Take Mario, for example. In 1996, they retired classic Mario and introduced crappy sandbox Mario. And then x years afterward, oops, here's New Super Mario Bros.! Here's Super Mario Galaxy! Archetype Mario is back, infant. Then, in another decade, later on a long streak of classic-mode games that left crappy sandbox fans longing for the days of 64 and Sunshine, bam, here'due south Cappy, fourth dimension to get crappy! (The aforementioned applies to Zelda, but in opposite.)

In the case of Donkey Kong, Returns and Tropical Freeze were obviously meant to exist the large SNES-style revival, but Nintendo didn't know that King K. Rool was secretly ane of their most pop characters, and then the games didn't feel that manner to a lot of people. Now that they've been made keenly aware, I'd be surprised if the adjacent game isn't total to the gills with Rare-era Country ephemera.

That would utterly warm my heart. And I think yous're right.

Nintendo works in cycles. It's honestly kind of genius, because they know their fans then well. Every few years, they radically reinvent ane of their properties; then, when the one-time style is old plenty to be nostalgic, they bring it back in full force. Lather, rinse, and repeat when the reinvention then becomes nostalgic. There are tons of examples of this across several different IPs.

Take Mario, for example. In 1996, they retired classic Mario and introduced crappy sandbox Mario. And then x years after, oops, here'southward New Super Mario Bros.! Here'due south Super Mario Galaxy! Archetype Mario is dorsum, baby. So, in some other decade, after a long streak of classic-style games that left crappy sandbox fans longing for the days of 64 and Sunshine, bam, here's Cappy, time to get crappy! (The aforementioned applies to Zelda, but in reverse.)

I remember this from the Captain Toad thread, why do you detest sandbox Mario and so much? If you like the linear ones, I find it difficult to believe that theres such a gap in quality for you between the 2 styles.

Kobble

Please don't feed PC'south discourse about sandbox Mario. He has already met his weekly quota of shitting on Odyssey or Sunshine. Information technology's dull as all hell.

BayanTheBear

Should I start ranting about Fredrik to balance it out?

OrsonZedd

Because I managed to diameter myself with Let'due south Get in a week, I sure hope this isn't the future of the series. But at least nosotros won't exist losing One thousand. Rool again.

I call back this from the Captain Toad thread, why do you hate sandbox Mario and so much? If you like the linear ones, I find it hard to believe that theres such a gap in quality for you between the 2 styles.

Sandbox Mario just doesn't feel like Mario to me. I grew upwards with Mario 1-three and Globe, and the more than the modern Mario games resemble those four (linear levels, ability-ups, classic enemies, etc.), the more than I enjoy them. I merely hate Sunshine, though; 64 and Odyssey are okay.

KremlingKuthroat19

At the very least I remember we're getting G. Rool and Enguarde in the next DK game.

Sharkania

It is still a chip hard for me to believe, that K. Rool and he other animal buddies will render soon. It actually depends on Nintendo if they desire them back. Also I have a feeling that we first should bring back some of the other Kongs. We still miss a lot of the these days: Kiddy, Tiny, Lanky, Mesomorphic, Candy, Wrinkly and Swanky.

It is still a chip difficult for me to believe, that K. Rool and he other brute buddies will return soon. It really depends on Nintendo if they want them back. As well I have a feeling that we commencement should bring back some of the other Kongs. We still miss a lot of the these days: Kiddy, Tiny, Lanky, Chunky, Candy, Wrinkly and Swanky.

I trust Hyle plenty and not blindly because I want besides. He said that his sources claim that Yard. Rool is returning as the main antagonist forever due to K. Rool substantially winning the Boom ballot and also that management had changed at Nintendo and that the people in place at present actually similar Rare's take on the franchise and realize how much money they're leaving on the table by excluding the Kremlings - especially in Japan. Koizumi seems to have had a change of heart besides with all the DK references in Odyssey, a game he directed. He even referenced K. Rool in that game.

M. Rool's trademark was immediately renewed in the summer of 2015. It wasn't expiring. That to me proves that he won the ballot. Even if he didn't win the ballot technically, he won the ballot in practicality as he was the only character that was dead in the water and resurrected. No other ballot contender got their trademark renewed during the ballot as far equally I know. Plus I find information technology really hard to believe that it's too late for Chiliad. Rool to be in the next DKC game. They became enlightened of his massive popularity in the summer of 2015 and we still don't have a new DK game. Even if they began development on a new game in 2014 or then the project plans would've been early enough for them to chip the existing villains.

Plus Nintendo is aware now of the tremendous backlash they'd confront if K. Rool was in Smash and not in the side by side DK game. Nintendo is as well disappointed by Tropical Freeze'due south sales. It hasn't sold half of Returns and they expect DKC to sell in the 5-ix million range. Obviously the Wii U is to blame equally well equally the port being bare bones besides adding Funky. They know calculation K. Rool would add to the hype tremendously. Wait how they marketed the Koopalings when they returned in New Suoer Mario Bros. Their inclusion helped those games sell like gang busters. I'grand as well fully convinced that K. Rool was added in Blast every bit a promotional character for the side by side DK game besides.

If I'm incorrect so I'll eat crow and y'all can mock me all you want. I don't care. Existence a DK fan in the concluding couple years has been spectacular. We have a theme park ride coming. That's a dream come true! How many franchises tin say that?? A mainline Mario game acknowledged the beingness of DKC and even had a Diddy Kong costume. Tropical Freeze was ported and redeemed in the optics of the public. One of the best games on the Switch (my favorite game) Mario + Rabbids got an outstanding DLC expansion that everyone loves and we got Rabbid Cranky as well! The original DK arcade game got ported to a Nintendo console for the start fourth dimension ever and the aforementioned can be said for DK Jr. coming in 2019. Blast added Male monarch G. Rool and he's by far the nearly hyped newcomer by most people. And although it still leaves a little to be desired, DKC has much better representation in Smash with the new music, spirits and a new particular and AT.

DK as a franchise is on the up and up and I couldn't be happier. Since Rare is my favorite studio ever to see all the DK stuff I've listed also Yooka-Laylee coming out and selling over a 1000000 copies, it seems that Rare is back in spirit and that's something I never would've said a couple years agone smile.gif

Sabertooth1000000000

When information technology comes to Rare's onetime vision of DK, I promise they don't just finish at K Rool like Boom Ultimate has. We need to proceed Dixie and Funky around, plus bring back as many of the onetime Kongs every bit possible. Lanky in detail is a glaring omission from the main cast of DKC. Wrinkly you could justify as maybe she's finally "passed on", simply anybody else should absolutely return. Fauna Buddies too.

I but know that whenever the trailer for DKC6 drops, I'chiliad gonna be scanning that thing for any hint of one-time forgotten friends finally working their way back into the mainstream gaming consciousness. Information technology'due south time Donkey Kong Country truly put all that Buyout baggage behind and truly become the iconic Nintendo world that it always should've been.

Planet Cool

I dunno, bringing back as many old things as possible seems a little... stifling. There are several old school DKC characters I wouldn't heed never seeing again, like Candy and Tiny. There are others that, while I exercise similar them, I'g not exactly clamoring for their render, like Swanky and Wrinkly. The series shouldn't disregard its history going forward, simply information technology shouldn't exist a ball and chain, either.

To me, the three big things that admittedly need to come back are King K. Rool, Enguarde, and the Zingers, in that order. Everything else is optional. Retro should be able to introduce new characters and leave their stamp on the series. I similar what they've done so far, personally, especially Tawks and the Snowmads.

Stilt Village

I call back we tend to forget this or only look at it a fleck rose-tinted, but Rare's "vision" of Donkey Kong was non really a thing. All the games are actually dissimilar, and weird tonal shifts practically ascertain the serial. Kirby managed to eventually pull it all together using Super Star as a base, I recollect Donkey Kong could practise information technology with Diddy's Kong Quest, but it's non something that happens often. Sonic only gets more and more fragmented with each release. Building a consequent identity is hard, and once y'all practice I call back it can become kind of a self-made cage.

KremlingKuthroat19

Rare is by no means perfect and I agree that Rare did brand also many Kongs back in the day. I experience like just two should come up dorsum. I know Candy's controversial, but I want her back so DK can have a girlfriend. The leader of the Kongs non having a love interest but makes him seem similar a loser. Imagine if in the Mario games in that location was no Peach, merely Daisy and Luigi was dating her. Doesn't it make Mario seem like a chump if the sidekick of the serial gets a daughter but non the namesake of the franchise? That's the current trouble DK has. Cranky had a wife that died lol so DK and Funky are the just ones that tin't get a date then?

The other Kong I desire back is Lanky. He was e'er my favorite Kong in DK64 and his personality is unique amongst the Kongs as a goofy and clumsy Kong. Too he'southward an orangutan, making the Kong's more versatile in species. DK and Cranky are gorillas, Funky is an unspecified monkey w/out a tail, Diddy is a spider monkey, and Dixie is a chimpanzee. Adding an orangutan would make another really unique species in the Kong family. Adding a baboon would exist cool too. Also Lanky'due south stretchy arms could requite him awesome abilities in a platformer. Anyone here ever played Ristar? It's a platformer nigh stretching your artillery from platform to platform. That gameplay mechanic could make Lanky actually unique.

Besides those two Kongs all other Kongs are either redundant or unnecessary. Tiny is a redundant Dixie. Both Kiddie and Mesomorphic are redundant DKs. Swanky's could come back I suppose, only I can't meet it. Also Wrinkly bring a ghost although funny always felt too morbid for Nintendo and I don't expect her back anyways.

I'd like for these two Kongs to render as well as the whole Kremling cast besides as the Zingers. I recollect the two holdover characters from Retro should be Tawks and Professor Chops for sure.

Sabertooth1000000000

Y'all are seriously sleeping on Chunky. Simply because he's a big strong ape like DK doesn't make him redundant. He'south got the virtually endearing personality out of anybody in DK64, I mean who can forget the fashion he tried to keep you lot from playing as him? The DK serial could use a Cowardly King of beasts blazon of character who gets the chore washed nevertheless.

Kiddy Kong could exist proficient comic relief every bit he'south a big dopey infant--he could even serve as a foil to his large brother at times, seeing as Mesomorphic is a scaredy cat, Kiddy is too dumb to have whatsoever fear at all.

Dixie and Funky are the biggest ones to me, every bit I desire them both to be household names and for kids to grow upward knowing them similar they know Waluigi and Princess Daisy. Merely I actually like the rest of the cast besides, and they don't all take to be playable either. Just recurring NPCs that add some flavor to the world.
